Oversight Project Secures Massive Election Integrity Win in Arizona
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 14, 2026
Washington, D.C.– On Thursday, the Oversight Project secured a litigation win in Arizona for election integrity, representing the Pima County Republican Party and its chairwoman Kathleen Winn. A Federal court see blocked Arizona election officials from enforcing a vague “apparel” rule that would allow election officials to turn away uniformed members of the military and law enforcement officers.. The judicial ruling affirmed that such a mandate provided bureaucrats with the precise brand of standardless, unbridled authority that is fundamentally incompatible with First Amendment protections at polling locations.
This is not the first time the Fontes’ Elections Procedures Manual, which is updated every two years, has been challenged in federal court. In 2024, Secretary Fontes and Attorney General Mayes were enjoined from enforcing similar provisions. Secretary Fontes and Attorney General Mayes are engaged in a systematic effort to discourage in-person voting and continue to implement rules to achieve that aim,
The Oversight Project’s clients, the Pima County Republican Party and its Chairwoman Kathleen Winn, celebrated the victory, with Chairwoman Winn calling the ruling. “a critical win for voters.”
Oversight Project Strategic Counsel Marshall Yates gave this statement:
“Today, the Oversight Project secured an outstanding election integrity victory in our Arizona litigation against unconstitutional provisions of Secretary of State Fontes’ Election Procedures Manual.
A federal court agreed to block Arizona election officials from enforcing a vague ‘Apparel Rule’ designed to dissuade law enforcement and military voters from voting in person.
We are proud of our litigation team, Jeff Clark and Neal Cornett, for this exceptional victory. We look forward to continuing to fight for election integrity in Arizona and throughout the rest of the country.”
