Oversight Project’s Statement on Neera Tanden’s Closed-Door Testimony

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 25, 2025

Washington, D.C. –According to Chairman Comer, former White House Staff Secretary Neera Tanden admitted in closed-door testimony that she had minimal interaction with former President Joe Biden.  This is absolutely unheard of for the position of White House Staff Secretary.  As Staff Secretary, Tanden was responsible for moving paper at the White House ensuring proper documentation of presidential actions.  Instead, she would send decision memos to Biden’s inner circle with no visibility of approval between sending the memo and receiving it back.  Tanden’s testimony confirms that she affixed Biden’s signature onto presidential documents without direct knowledge that Biden authorized the given action.

Given Biden’s clearly deteriorating condition and lack of capacity, it was incumbent on Tanden to actually confirm that Biden himself was capable of and actually making decisions. Instead it appears that a close cabal of advisors were put between the autopen and the President.

Tanden’s testimony confirms key aspects of our investigative thesis.  Much more investigative work on the part of Congress and the Administration awaits to inform the American People as to who their President was for the previous four years.  President Trump has referred to our investigation as breaking “the scandal of the century” and this must remain a top priority for our elected leaders, because as polling shows it is also a top priority for the American People.  We are thrilled that our findings are animating such national controversies but ultimately it is accountability we seek for the destruction that was the Biden Administration.
