Oversight Project Report Leads Netflix to Withdraw Bid from Buying Warner Bros.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 27, 2026
Washington, D.C.– The Oversight Project effectively contributed to Netflix dropping its $83 billion cash bid to acquire Warner Bros. through an investigative interim report: FEDFLIX. This report detailed Netflix’s cozy relationship with federal law enforcement and the intelligence community, spreading propaganda, and advancing ideological social engineering under the guise of entertainment.
The report made its way to the Trump Administration and Members of Congress, using it as a reference during the debate regarding the acquisition of Warner Bros. by Netflix. The Oversight Project effectively warned policymakers about the dangers of this acquisition. Our report’s key findings showed that propaganda is still alive and well in America, intelligence operatives still actively collude with left-wing outlets to influence public and elective leaders with misleading narratives, the FBI exercises significant influence and control over content, Netflix’s board of Directors is composed of highly partisan Democratic operatives and donors, Netflix’s library reflects predominantly left-wing orientation of content, and Netflix airs and produces content that advances left-wing agendas.
By not acquiring Warner Bros., Netflix cannot become what it was hoping to be: an even more cemented political and ideological propaganda machine. The Oversight Project will not let powerful left-wing elites shape the beliefs, values, and political values of entire generations.
Oversight Project President Mike Howell offered this statement:
“FedFlix is an arm of the Democratic party and other left-wing extremists. We are glad that our work contributed to Netflix not expanding and cementing its control. Even with recent news, Netflix remains a massive problem our society must confront. Our investigation continues full-speed ahead, particularly as it relates to the company’s cozy relationship with the Federal government. We look forward to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s cooperation in this effort as they seek to unwind the relationship between Netflix and elements of the U.S. government.”
