Oversight Project Expresses No Surprise with SPLC News, Thanks DOJ for Taking Action

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 24, 2026

Washington, D.C.–  For years, the Oversight Project has long sounded the alarm regarding the nefarious connections between the Deep State and the Southern Poverty Law Center, and similar organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League. They were always the tail wagging the dog. We warned senior officials throughout the Trump Administration that they would inherit a bureaucracy that was still being pushed and prodded by such organizations in order to drive targeted and weaponization operations.  We have called it “governing without government” and noted how left-wing power structures continue to operate without formal democratic control.

We applaud the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice for their investigations and indictments.  Much remains to be done to unwind the damage, but this is a great way to start.

Oversight Project President Mike Howell shared the following statement:

“There is a reason the Oversight Project has spent so much time fighting against the abuses of the Southern Poverty Law Center and associated groups like the Anti-Defamation League.  They’ve been behind so many of the injustices, conspiracy theories, and weaponized activities carried out by the Deep State.  We have sounded the alarm for years on the nature of this relationship and have made bombshell discoveries to that end.  We look forward to continuing to cooperate with anyone, including the government, to unwind their tentacles and achieve actual accountability.

The left’s hatred of patriotic Americans and particularly Christians have kept me in these groups’ crosshairs, including with the offshoot Global Project against Hate and Extremism.  I know why they put us on such lists, so it’s nice to see them being held to account. ”

Oversight Project Vice President of Litigation Jeff Clark shared the following statement:

“The SPLC didn’t just pay informants– they secretly funneled donor money to KKK and Aryan Nations leaders while publicly telling donors that that same money was for fighting white supremacy. That’s not intelligence work. That looks like fraud to us. You can’t fundraise off hate and then secretly bankroll it.”
