Oversight Project Demands Immediate Release of Biden’s Ghostwriter Interview Tapes and Transcripts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 11, 2026

Washington, D.C.– In a joint status report filed Friday, the Department of Justice confirmed it is prepared to release the full transcript and 70 hours of audio recordings of former President Biden’s interviews with the ghostwriter of his book Promise Me, Dad (appropriately redacted to remove classified material and for legitimate privacy concerns). The materials will be produced to the Heritage Foundation and Oversight Project as the FOIA plaintiff. They will also be produced to the House Judiciary Committee in response to a separate Congressional request

Former President Biden notified the DOJ that he intends to intervene to prevent disclosure to both the FOIA Plaintiffs and Congress. If he does not intervene by May 12th, the DOJ will release the material by June 15th.

Former President Biden’s intention to intervene comes as a surprise because the case was filed March 6, 2024 and he has known his interests diverged from the Trump Administration since January 20, 2025 at 12:01 p.m. Moreover, some of the materials are already partially quoted in the public Hur Report. Biden’s counsel has refused to provide basic information such as when they plan to file, what their legal arguments will be, and whether they will file a separate lawsuit. It is evident that Biden’s counsel is engaging in delay tactics.

The public deserves access to this material and the Oversight Project remains committed to seeking full transparency regarding Special Counsel Hur’s investigation into classified documents.

President Mike Howell gave this statement:
“The autopen is back in its efforts to destroy America and stop government accountability.  President Biden revealed classified information and was not prosecuted because of his cognitive issues.  President Trump’s Department of Justice is prepared to release to the Oversight Project the audio tapes of Biden’s discussions with his ghostwriter from 2017.  These tapes will further prove the massive lie regarding Biden’s fitness for office and the fact Biden revealed classified information.  The shenanigans aren’t over: at the last possible second, and after every delay tactic possible, the autopen is objecting to the American People receiving transparency.  Rest assured the Oversight Project will never stop fighting to expose and remedy what the autopen has done to America.”
