Oversight Project Applauds the DOJ for its Lawsuit Against the Weaponized D.C. Bar
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 19, 2026
Washington, D.C.– The Department of Justice announced that it had filed a complaint against the D.C. Bar Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton P. Fox III, the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and the D.C. Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility. The Oversight Project applauds this important step toward accountability and greater integrity for the weaponized D.C. Bar disciplinary process.
The complaint seeks to nullify the D.C. Bar’s unlawful barfare against Oversight Project Vice President of Litigation, Jeff Clark, for his confidential legal discussions with the President concerning irregularities in the 2020 election. For five and a half years, Jeff Clark and his family have endured the substantial personal and financial burdens associated with prolonged litigation. We are grateful that the Department of Justice has taken action to address these injustices.
The Oversight Project is proud to have Jeff Clark as part of our team. His example and humble leadership pave the way for patriotic lawyers to stand up for the rule of law.
Oversight Project President Mike Howell gave this statement:
“They wanted to destroy Jeff, but he’s only stronger. Hamilton Fox thought he was cunning, but he’s been exposed for perverting his authority. This degeneracy can’t stand. I am thrilled that the Department of Justice is doing what is needed to hold Fox accountable.
So many others would have folded when faced with the onslaught of weaponization Jeff faced and still deals with. Jeff never winced and is still running into new battles for what is right every day. At the Oversight Project he is not only leading complex litigation to de-weaponize government, but he is using the lessons of lawfare against him in order to defend other patriots now subject to it. That is the good that is coming from this evil.”
Oversight Project General Counsel Kyle Brosnan gave this statement:
“Jeff Clark is a patriot who has been put through hell for having a privileged disagreement over a contentious legal and factual dispute. The Trump Administration’s lawsuit against the D.C. bar is a massive step in fighting back against the intolerable weaponization of justice brought on by the left-wing legal establishment. I thank the Justice Department for standing up for what’s right and I am proud to call Jeff Clark a colleague and friend.”
Oversight Project Visiting Fellow DataRepublican gave this statement:
“We are all proud to stand by Jeff Clark. DOJ’s lawsuit is the right call. If the officers of the court prosecuting you can’t meet a basic standard of impartiality, the proceeding was never legitimate. It’s about time someone held the disciplinary system to its own rules.”
Oversight Project Visiting Fellow for Deportation Studies Scott Mechkowski gave this statement:
“In an era marked by institutional conformity and political expediency, Jeff Clark stands as a beacon of unwavering integrity and courage. With steadfast patriotism, he confronted entrenched powers without hesitation, exposing systemic vulnerabilities rather than seeking refuge in silence. His willingness to uphold the rule of law, even at great personal cost, exemplifies the highest ideals of public service and constitutional fidelity.”
Hon. Ken Cuccinelli gave this statement:
“It is encouraging to see this DOJ standing up for professional freedom against the legal deep state — particularly in Washington, D.C. itself, where the bar believes it holds power over the very government elected by the people.”
Barbara Ledeen gave this statement:
“It is extremely important that the DoJ uphold the standards of fairness that were discarded. John Eastman, Jeff Clark and other lawyers as well as those others who fought for election integrity must be made whole.”
Cleta Mitchell, Senior Legal Fellow of the Conservative Partnership Institute gave this statement:
“The Department of Justice has correctly served notice to the highly partisan District of Columbia Bar Association that its targeting of Jeffrey Clark will not be tolerated by the Trump Administration. Jeff Clark wrote a legal memo relying on federal law and the DC Bar has relied on that exercise of professional discretion as grounds to disbar him. This has been a political witch hunt since Day One. Thanks to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch and AssociateAttorney General Stanley Woodward for their strong leadership to halt the kangaroo proceedings against Jeff Clark and to hold the DC Bar accountable for its abuse of process.”
Maureen Riordan Esq., Former Senior Counsel to the Attorney General for Civil Rights of the Department of Justice gave this statement:
“I strongly support the Department of Justice’s efforts to combat the weaponization of state and local Bar Associations against conservative lawyers and federal government attorneys.
Equal application of the law and professional rules demands an end to this partisan targeting. I urge continued DOJ vigilance to safeguard the legal profession from politicization.”
President of the State Leadership Initiative Noah Wall gave this statement:
“The DC Bar is a Shadow Government cartel which is responsible for great injustices. Jeff Clark deserves justice.”
Clare Lopez, Founder and President of Lopez Liberty LLC, gave this statement:
“The weaponization of our Justice system to target & ruin the careers of honest & upstanding lawyers like Jeff Clark for purely partisan political reasons has to stop. I’m glad to see our DOJ now stepping up to oppose the DC Bar efforts against Jeff Clark & others like him.”
Myron Ebell, Chairman Elect of American Lands Council, gave this statement:
“Jeff Clark is as devoted to the Constitution and the rule of law as any lawyer I’ve worked with on public policy in four decades in Washington. The DC Bar Association’s persecution of him is an outrageous travesty. They should be giving Jeff major awards instead of trying to disbar him. I applaud the Department of Justice’s suit to block the DC Bar’s shameful action.”
Kevin Moncla, Director of Election Oversight Group, LLC, gave this statement:
“The DOJ’s action against the D.C. Bar, led by a courageous Stanley Woodward, is like the big brother punching the neighborhood bully in the nose. Refreshing and inspiring.”
