Oversight Project Announces Investigation for Deportation Data
The Two Commas Compliance Tracker
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 7, 2026
Washington, D.C.– The Oversight Project, a proud member of the Mass Deportation Coalition, has launched an investigation for deportation data to understand the true numbers of illegal aliens that have been deported. The Oversight Project filed eight highly-specific and targeted Freedom of Information Act requests to obtain real deportation numbers. Where applicable, we will regularly renew these requests so we can keep the American People apprised of how many illegals have been deported from the United States. We are hopeful that transparency is achieved and our requests are honored.
These returns, along with other verified publicly accessible data from meaningful metrics, will be used to update a Two Commas Compliance Tracker. Below is an example from the calendar year 2025.

The Mass Deportation Coalition has released a playbook that is the roadmap to deport at least 1 million illegal aliens in 2026. This will pave the way for all illegal aliens to be removed from the United States in the years to come. One of the key principles of the playbook is “complete data transparency.” Regular and complete data transparency, along with meaningful metrics, from the Trump Administration is essential to build confidence that the administration is on target to achieve President Trump’s campaign promise of the “largest deportation operation in American history.”
Mike Howell, President of the Oversight Project offered the following statement:
“There needs to be two commas in the deportation numbers as soon as possible. Last year there were less than about 350,000 actual deportations. Luckily, the One Big Beautiful Bill provided tens of billions of dollars to get the job done. Mass deportation cannot be measured in soundbites, press releases, guesses, and social media memes. It is measured in numbers. I know those numbers exist and there’s a reason why my public predictions of statistics have been so spot on. We’ve been told to look at the numbers so this is us asking for the numbers, which we will use to advocate for even more deportations. We know that special interests don’t want the Trump Administration to carry out mass deportations and to instead choose amnesty. We have this Administration’s back to carry out the signature campaign promise of mass deportation.”
Kyle Brosnan, General Counsel of the Oversight Project offered the following statement:
“The American People overwhelmingly re-elected President Trump on his promise of conducting the ‘largest mass deportation operation in American history.’ The American public is still largely in the dark about the actual number of illegal aliens in the United States and how many have been deported to date. They deserve to know. The Mass Deportation Coalition has published a comprehensive playbook for how the administration can remove 1,000,000 illegal aliens this year. Getting fidelity on the actual deportation numbers to date is a key first step on accomplishing that goal.”
