Oversight Project’s Statement on Arctic Frost

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Senator Grassley’s office released a document showing that former Attorney General Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, and Christopher Wray and other FBI Executives approved the opening of Operation Arctic Frost.

The approval memo also stated that the predication for opening an unprecedented investigation into President Trump’s campaign and any of his associates was based on open-source reporting and public statements. It is hard to fathom that a full field investigation could be opened based on this flimsy of predication. This was a frivolous investigation based on false pretenses for an alleged “fraud” that was not even a crime. It is not a crime to question the legitimacy of an election, in fact in 2020 it was the patriotic and reasonable thing to do. Democrats have done this repeatedly without an FBI investigation.

For years, the Oversight Project has been calling out Arctic Frost and corruption at the FBI from officials like biased former assistant special agent in charge Timothy Thibault for years. Now is the time for accountability for everyone involved in this attack on Democracy—which was essentially a massive dragnet on political opponents. Every official that sanctioned and approved this investigation is likely in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 241 Conspiracy Against Rights.

The long continuum of a decade-long campaign by the Federal government against Trump can get complicated.  What you should know is that they were so out of control, and thought they never would get caught, that they named this investigation after an orange to mock Trump.  Well, they got caught and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure accountability follows.”
