In September 2021, standing next to Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, President Biden stated from the White House Press Podium that Border Patrol Agents “whipped” Haitian migrants from horseback during the Biden Border Crisis in Del Rio, Texas. The Oversight Project filed multiple lawsuits about the incident and exposed that Secretary Mayorkas knew no whipping occurred when President Biden made those statements and did nothing to correct the record.
The Oversight Project’s work formed the basis for one of the House of Representatives’s Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas.
