Oversight Project Secures Total Victory Over Senator Self-Payout
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 30, 2026
Washington, D.C.– Oversight Project secured another victory over Senators seeking a self-payout after we launched a campaign aimed at protecting and prioritizing the true victims of government weaponization. We called on many Senators to kill this bill that would potentially award $500,000 per subpoenaed phone record during Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Operation Arctic Frost– at the expense of hard-working taxpayers.
We applaud Senators who voted to kill this provision and prioritize true victims of government weaponization. The Oversight Project will continue to fight for victims of weaponization as opposed to politicians getting richer.
Oversight Project President Mike Howell gave this statement:
“I’m glad our aggressive campaign worked, but we shouldn’t have even needed to do it. The Oversight Project will remain the strongest advocate for the common Americans who were brutalized by the weaponized Biden Administration. We won’t stop until millions and millions of dollars go to those victims to begin to make them whole. The fact that Lindsey Graham tried cutting them out in order to pay himself was disgusting. We thank the Senators and Congressmen who agreed with us and delivered the removal of this ridiculous provision. It is usually a smart idea to instinctively oppose whatever Lindsey Graham is pushing, either amnesty or this.”
